No. 1 Star: Cam Ward, Carolina Hurricanes
Ward continued his dominance at Phillips Arena posting a 45-save performance in a 3-2 shootout win over the Atlanta Thrashers. The Carolina netminder improved his career record in Atlanta to 11-3 and won for the 13th time this season. Once again, Carolina fought back from a deficit after going down 2-0 heading into the third period. Sergei Samsonov scored the shootout winner in the third round.
No. 2 Star: Logan Couture, San Jose Sharks
Couture snapped a three-game point with a power play goal 1:20 into overtime as San Jose prevailed over Dallas 4-3. Out of Couture's 15 goals on the season, five have been game winners. San Jose also received two goals from Devin Setoguchi and Antero Niittymaki needed just 15 saves for the win.
No. 3 Star: Jordan Eberle, Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton kids took over in their 6-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Eberle scored his 8th and 9th goals; Linus Omark opened the game with his first NHL goal and added two assists; Magnus Paajarvi had a goal and assist, while Taylor Hall recorded three helpers. Nikolai Khabibulin made 37 saves, including 21 in the first period.
Honorable mention: For the second straight night, the New York Rangers had to come from behind to earn a victory. Tonight, New York fought back from a 3-1 deficit to rally for a 4-3 shootout win over Phoenix. Martin Biron made 30 saves and Erik Christensen scored the only goal in the shootout as the Rangers won their third straight game ... With Ilya Bryzgalov coming down with the flu on Thursday, the Coyotes were in a bind for a backup goaltender and ended up signing the community relations manager of a local New York college to sit on the bench. Tom Fenton played four years of goal at American International College and was getting his hair cut when Phoenix called him ... Dallas Stars coach Marc Crawford coached his 1,100th games ... Kristian Huselius tallied a hat trick as Columbus lost their sixth game in a row ... The Islanders scored three goals in the first period for the first time since April 1st and hung on for a 3-2 win over Anaheim. The victory was New York's second in their previous 22 games ... Ottawa's power play went 2-for-2 and Pascal Leclaire made 23 saves, while Erik Karlsson assisted on all three goals in the Senators' 3-1 win over Minnesota. The turning point in the game came when Nick Foligno scored nine seconds after a Wild goal was called back midway through the second period. Sergei Gonchar recorded an assist for his 700th NHL point ... Alex Steen's goal with 2:53 to go in the third broke a 4-4 tied as the Blues beat Los Angeles 6-4. David Backes, Carlo Colaiacovo and Vladimir Sobotka each had three points, while Ty Conklin made 25 saves to improve to 6-1-0 all-time against the Kings ... Calgary scored thre time in 57 seconds in the second period en route to a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Olli Jokinen recorded a three-point night ... Mike Cammalleri was involved in his first fight and scored on his first career penalty shot attempt to lift Montreal over Boston 6-4.
