Monday's Three Stars: Sharp impresses in front of mom; Isles win

No. 1 Star: Patrick Sharp, Chicago Blackhawks

With his mom in the crowd during Chicago's "Mom's Trip," Sharp stood out with two goals an an assist during a 4-3 Blackhawks win over Los Angeles. Chicago swept the season series with the Kings and sent L.A. to its fourth straight loss. Jonathan Toews' return to the Blackhawks' lineup ended with a wacky goal with 5:27 to go in the third that broke the 3-3 tie and helped snap Chicago's own three-game losing streak.

No. 2 Star: John Tavares, New York Islanders

Tavares converted on New York's only two power-play opportunities of the game and also assisted on one of Matt Moulson's two goals as the Islanders bested the Calgary Flames 5-2 to improve to 7-1-1 in their last nine games. Relieving Rick DiPietro who left with an injury, rookie netminder Nathan Lawson, a Calgary native, stopped 28 of 29 shots he faced for his first NHL win 

No. 3 Star: Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins

Behind Rask's 36 saves and Marc Savard's second goal of the season late in the second period, the Bruins edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1. Rask earned his third win of the year after staving off an 18-shot third period by Toronto. Nathan Horton scored his 12th goal and later assisted on Savard's winner in the win.

Honorable mention: Bryan Allen's goal 1:16 into overtime denied a late-third period comeback by Carolina to give the Florida Panthers a 4-3 win, their fifth in their last eight games. Cory Stillman and Michael Frolik each had two points and Scott Clemmensen made 34 saves in the win ... Alex Burrows' goal with 11:03 left in the third put Vancouver up for good en route to a 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks, boosting the Canucks into the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Burrows and Daniel Sedin each had a goal and an assist, while Cory Schneider stopped 32 shots as Vancouver won its sixth in a row. Antti Niemi made 43 saves in the loss for the Sharks.

Dishonorable mention: DiPietro left the game with an adductor strain two days after the team traded away Dwayne Roloson ... Toronto only has three wins in its last 14 meetings with Boston.
