Ricky Gervais' comedy series "Extras" showed the world that the "living scenery" in movies and theater productions were real people plying their own unique trade. And occasionally having awkward pitch meetings with Jean-Luc Picard.
Tuesday night at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, former Chicago Blackhawks star and hockey living legend Bobby Hull joined Make-a-Wish Foundation child Charles Finch as extras in a production of "A Christmas Carol."
It was Hull's Goodman theater debut; and we're all blessed with behind-the-scenes footage and the Golden Jet mic'd up during the production:
His delivery of "I would love a meat pie ... isn't that nice?" was Tony Award-worthy, in our expert opinion.
The Goodman Theatre called this their "first partnership with the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks," which we can only assume means more guest appearances are planned or possible. Fantasy casting: Jonathan Toews in "Phantom," Brian Campbell as "Annie" and John Scott in "Jack and the Beanstalk." Make it so.
