Charlie Sheen has a message for worried Red Sox fans

So it's come to this.

With their team holding a worst-in-baseball record of 2-9, fans of the Boston Red Sox now have to hear Charlie Sheen offer words of encouragement.

Yes, Mr. Tiger Blood himself was in the Hub on Tuesday night. And after extracting thousands of dollars from the chuckleheads who showed up to see his live show, he headed over to 98.5 FM to talk a little sports. The Red Sox had just lost to the Rays, 3-2, to fall five games behind the rained-out Baltimore Orioles.

But not to worry, said Sheen, who has a little experience with�giving baseball pep talks.

When he entered the studio, Sheen saw the Red Sox-Rays rebroadcast on TV and was informed that the Red Sox had the worst record in baseball. "Oh, that will change," he replied. [...]

Later [in the live show], one caller wanted to know what Sheen would say to the Red Sox and their fans about the team's bad start.

"I'd tell everybody to shut up, that they'll bounce back," Sheen said. "It's a long season and there's a ton of talent there and a really bitchin' hitters park they play in. Relax."

Maybe Sheen's words aren't the best place for a Sawx fan to take solace. But there's plenty of shelter being offered as the team is on the brink of being the first in baseball to hit double digits in the loss column. NESN points out that two teams ? the 1991 Minnesota Twins and 2002 Anaheim Angels ? have come back from 2-9 starts to win the World Series. And the Soxaholix make the prerequisite mention of the season�being at the one-mile marker of the Boston Marathon.

But battling back from a 2-9 start also means that a Red Sox team that might be flawed is looking at a slow and tedious climb back to .500 before it can even think of doing the big things that were expected of it. To continue the Sheen-theme of this post, it's like having to watch a season of "Two and a Half Men" before your DVR will let you get into all those "Breaking Bad" episodes you saved.
