Five opening-round pairings to watch at the Masters

Tuesday of Masters week brings us our first glimpse of the opening-round pairings for the tournament. With so many marquee groups to watch, here's a quick list of the five pairings you should keep tabs on when play starts on Thursday.

Dustin Johnson, Nick Watney, Adam Scott (8:40 a.m. ET): There's no doubt about it, one of these three players will win a major championship in the near future. Johnson was oh-so-close on two occasions last year; Watney is playing as well as any player in the game; and Scott, just 30 years old, still has a chance to live up to his early career hype.

Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day (9:24 a.m.): It seems like McIlroy and Fowler are always paired together, so nobody should be surprised to see them in the same group at the Masters. Day and Fowler have never played in the tournament, while McIlroy is making his third appearance at just 21 years of age.

Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Matt Kuchar (10:19 a.m.): Talk about a group with star power. Kaymer and Westwood are the top two players in the World Golf Rankings; Kuchar owns six top 10s in eight PGA Tour starts this season. Every player from this group could be in contention on Sunday.

Phil Mickelson, Geoff Ogilvy, Peter Uihlein (1:49 p.m.): Two of golf's current superstars get a chance to play with one of golf's future stars in Oklahoma State standout Peter Uihlein. Mickelson is tabbed as the favorite to win the Masters after last week's victory. And don't forget about Ogilvy, a former U.S. Open champion who has a lot of experience playing Augusta National.

Jhonny Vegas, Gary Woodland, lvaro Quirs (1:59 p.m.): Vegas, Woodland and Quiros are three of the biggest hitters in golf, but they also share a couple other things, namely that all three are under the age of 30 and have all won a tournament this season. Only Quiros has ever played in the Masters, but that shouldn't stop you from keeping an eye on this group of up-and-comers.

And if you're curious, Tiger Woods tees it up on Thursday at 10:41 a.m. You're welcome, Tiger fans.
