Bobby Jenks takes the high road with Oney Guillen's tweets

New Boston Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks is currently in Arizona, where he's working out with his new teammates and telling WEEI's Rob Bradford that he's now "all about keeping it quiet, going about my business and doing things the right way."

So far, so good.

Given the platform to blast back on Oney Guillen for his classless tweets about Jenks' personal life last month, Jenks instead took the high road with the son of Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and shrugged him off as a complete non-factor.

From WEEI:

"I'm not really disappointed because there was no one who was affiliated with the team that was talking crap," [Jenks] said. "This was coming from the manager's son, who gave his own opinion. I did an interview as heartfelt as I could, all the things about leaving the team. Of course I was upset. I had been there for so long and knew everybody so well and was sad to leave. Obviously things change in this game. It was just unfortunate the way things did turn out."

Though it does put an end to that short soap opera — something Gordon Beckham wants to happen for good in Chicago  — that's about as good a response as Jenks could have come up with. Boston's big boy is in a new city, could add a second World Series title ring to his fingers and he and Jonathan Papelbon are about to face two much more important adversaries in Mariano Rivera and Rafael Soriano.

Bradford's piece has much more about the challenges facing Jenks this season and a good quote about what Jenks thought of Texas' offer to make him a starter. Go check it out.
