Despite the best efforts of his father, former starting quarterback Tate Forcier is finally, officially transferring from Michigan, per a very bizarre "press release" strung together on the family Twitter feed just after midnight. "I’ve been kicked, pushed, knocked down, publicly berated, belittled, emasculated and more," Forcier wrote. "I really wanted to stay. I was not giving up on Michigan, but in the end, it was made clear they had given up on me." His destination is unknown, but Forcier fans can relive the good times and the bad on the obsessively archived "QB Force" website, and also ruminate over all the unused "Forcier" puns that never had a chance to become actual headlines. • Welcome to your going-away party. As a final "screw you" to outgoing overlord TCU, Mountain West Conference athletic directors reportedly favor moving this fall's TCU-Boise State game from Fort Worth to the blue turf in Boise, where the Broncos have lost once in the last decade. The game is the only time the Horned Frogs and Broncos will meet as conference rivals before TCU bolts for the Big East in 2012, and it's Boise's record, not TCU's, that will count toward the conference's overall BCS resumé during the crucial 2008-11 evaluation period. The switch would require a majority vote of Mountain West university presidents in a few weeks – and TCU, as a result of its short-timer status, doesn't have a vote. [Idaho Statesman]
• It's a tough gig... New NCAA president Mark Emmert is traveling with security these days thanks to threats and general "vitriol" from fans reacting to the sudden spate of NCAA rulings against their teams. The worst offenders: Kentucky basketball fans, who swarmed Emmert's Facebook page with such gusto after the NCAA's ruling that incoming recruit Enes Kanter is permanently ineligible that it had to block posts by outsiders. Emmert said he received an e-mail a couple weeks ago warning, "You'd better check your car," and "in this day and age … you take everything seriously." [USA Today]

Meanwhile, Emmert's old school, Washington, is auctioning off a framed, autographed Jake Locker jersey with stains "from the red paint on the field at the L.A. Coliseum" – site of the Huskies' 32-31 upset over USC in October – as part of its Signing Day Celebration and Auction on Feb. 2. Ohio State and Georgia fans, each of whom have seen star players suspended by the NCAA since September for selling their own jerseys, have a suggestion for where to start the bidding.
