The IndyCar Series has taken a cue from NASCAR and will go to double-file restarts for oval races in 2011. (It is unknown if announcers will be obligated to say "SHOOTOUT STYLE" after every double-file restart reference)
Previously, IndyCar Series restarts were single file with lapped down cars between lead-lap cars on the track. At times, it was possible that the second place car restarted multiple cars behind the leader.
It'll be a welcome change, especially at venues like Texas Motor Speedway, where the racing has been spectacular with single file restarts.
The IndyCar Series has also changed the way that pit stall selections have been made, although that decision is a bit of a headscratcher. Instead of being determined by points as in years past, pit stalls will now be determined by the qualifying order at the previous similar track.

In all three NASCAR series, pit stalls are determined by qualifying position for the race. Pretty straightforward, right? Now in the IndyCar Series, pit stalls for the second road course race -- at Barber Motorsports Park -- will be determined by how the qualifying shook out at St. Petersburg. (Both are road courses) That means that pit stall selection for the Texas races will be determined by the Indianapolis 500's qualifying order, because both are ovals.
Got that? Apparently taking two ideas from NASCAR would have been too obvious.
