No. 1 Star: J.P. Dumont, Nashville Predators
The veteran winger got his first regular-season hat trick in over nine years while skating with youngsters Chris Mueller and Matt Halischuk, as the Preds topped the Coyotes, 5-2. He scored 8:16 into the game, followed 12 seconds later by Patric Hornqvist (who had two on the game). Dumont completed the trick in the second period with goals Nos. 8 and 9 on the season. Pekka Rinne made 32 saves in the win.
No. 2 Star: Tim Thomas, Boston Bruins
Thomas's season-high 43-save effort at the Carolina Hurricanes gave the Boston Bruins a 3-2 victory and a home-and-home sweep. Milan Lucic had the go-ahead goal with 8:11 left. Said Thomas of his goaltending: "When they started to add up in the second, I was aware, because physically, I could feel it. ... I was like, 'Whoa, this is a lot of shots."'
No. 3 Star: David Jones, Colorado Avalanche
Jones' second goal of the night at 2:52 of overtime won the game for the Avs over the Vancouver Canucks, 4-3 -- beating Roberto Luongo in tight and snapping the Avs' 4-game losing streak to the Canucks. Craig Anderson made 40 saves in the win; Milan Hejduk had a goal and two assists.
Honorable mention: Andrej Meszaros beat Semyon Varlamov at 1:07 of overtime to give the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals. Alex Ovechkin scored goal No. 16 for the Caps; Jeff Carter's 20th of the season opened the scoring. ... Said Bobby Ryan of Jonas Hiller's 39-save effort in a 2-1 shootout win over the Ottawa Senators: "I don't know if he earned a star tonight but he certainly won a game. We got outplayed in a lot of aspects of that game and he did his job. It was incredible." ... In a game that left the Montreal Canadiens bruised, battered and in one case on a stretcher, the Buffalo Sabres won in overtime, 2-1, on a Jason Pominville power-play goal. Ryan Miller had 29 saves, while Carey Price made 37. ... Steven Stamkos scored twice and Ryan Malone had the definitive goal in the shootout to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. ... Erik Johnson had the game-winner in the third period, as the St. Louis Blues celebrated the return of TJ Oshie to the lineup with a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles. Kings. ... HUZZAH! The Edmonton Oilers broke their power-play scoring drought at 44 chances on a Magnus Paajarvi third-period goal. Wasn't enough to overcome the Minnesota Wild and goalie Anton Khudobin (31 saves) in a 4-1 loss, but still: the streak is over. ... Finally, the shorthanded Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the very shorthanded Detroit Red Wings, 4-1, thanks to 36 saves from Marc-Andre Fleury and this Chris Conner penalty shot, the first successful one for the Pens since 2007.

Finally, some dishonorable conduct in the third period of the Wild/Oilers game, as Brent Burns takes a misconduct with less than 10 minutes left in the game and Brad Staubitz gets an instigator for this scrap with under 5 minutes left (which could cost him a game):
